Lost and Found

Yesterday my mobile was very active the whole day, as it was my birthday. In evening, while i was returning home after dropping a friend, I realized my mobile have not made any vibrations for some time. I stopped the bike and discovered that mobile is not with me.

Flash back... I was in very high speed on outer ring road and suddenly saw a speed breaker. Full break... still crossed the speed breaker in some speed, had a slight jump but bike was under control and I continued. Mobile might have popped out that time as it was in shirt pocket.

I went to nearby PCO and tried calling my cell, it was unreachable. I thought of trying my luck, so went back to the location of the incident. No sign of any mobile. So either someone picked it up or I lost it somewhere else.

Lose 10 kgs.

I joined a fitness club(fancy way to say gym). With membership they gave complimentary appointment with a nutritionist.

After logging data about me nutritionist told me that I am overweight and I should lose 8 to 10 kg. That was shocking as I thought I must be overweight by couple of kg.

She recorded my existing diet and made new diet plan for me. After getting a diet plan from her, I asked her "Don't you think you are underweight?" After being shocked for a while, and then smiling for a while, she accepted that she is underweight and she should gain some weight. That was the moment when I handed over my existing diet plan to her and told "you should follow this". She was laughing now...

Bharat Wapasi...

Have reached India about one week back. Thought it will be very boring 24 hour long flight with 8 hour waiting time at new-york. But it was not so as got very interesting company. She was the craziest girl I ever met in my life, but looked very innocent by face. She was also from CMU and was coming to India.

Before leaving Pittsburgh, had nice farewell. Few of my friends gathered for dinner and movie(Kya Cool Hai Hum). Not a right movie to watch with female friends... After movie we decided to go out for a ice cream and drive. In between ppl found some time to give me departing bumps...

My dad came to receive me at Delhi airport. From delhi we had 8 hour drive to my home in Rajasthan. My mom had tears in her eyes when she saw me. We spent some time exploring the stuff i got for everybody in family. My nephew and niece liked the CMU blinking glasses, remote control car and lot of tiny toys, I got for them. Surprisingly, my eldest bro became big fan of chocolates and not allowing even kids to eat chocolates :)

Soon will be leaving home and going to Chennai, Banglore for job hunt.

Holi hai....

It was wonderful holi once again... For enthusiastic ppl weather(temp: 5 degrees) and place(US) doesnt make difference.
The day was full of fun as we played holi, had some really nice indian food, danced a lot and played some games in the end.
One of our prof also joined us and enjoyed the festival of color with us.

Following was the menu:
Breakfast: Samose, Gulab Jamun, Rossugulla.
Lunch: Kheer, Chole, Parathe, Palak Paneer, Rice

I was triply happy as the superhit event was organised by me and one of my colleague and everybody appreciated the delicious chole I made.

Happy Purim

Today our professor (Mel Siegel) took us to a jewish temple on occasion of Purim, a jewish holiday. Purim celebrates victory over a tyrant during the Babylonian Exile (around 400 BCE). The holiday is observed in a wild carnival spirit, with the kids dressed up in funny costumes during a service in which everyone is encouraged to make a lot of noise every time the tyrant's name is mentioned during the reading of the story.

The experience was interesting. After the celebration, the Rabbi(Spiritual leader of a Jewish congregation; qualified to expound and apply Jewish law; A Hebrew title of respect for a Jewish scholar or teacher) of that temple, on seeing group of 10 Indian students came to us and gave us a tour of temple. He explained us some finer details about temple design. He also told us that almost every Jew learns hebrew, despite being in any part of world.

In the end all of us got a delicious pie and chocolates. It was a nice experience.

Back from Texas trip...

It was good trip to Dallas, Texas for a interview after my research qualifier presentation which went pretty good. The trip was good as I had good food (all expenses were reimbursed by company), lot of sleep and got time off after some hectic schedule.

The most interesting part of trip was experience with technology abt which [info]iamneo made a post some-days back. Though one of my closest friend and I were traveling in different parts of the world but still we could be in touch, thanks to wireless internet connectivity in my hotel room and roaming on her mobile. Technology rocks.

And yeah, interview went pretty good too. One of interesting exercise they gave me during interview was, given an implementation for some function guess what is the function. I guess company have lot of code without its developer and any documentation.
